Festival Action

We're playing Moonfest tonight in WPB, FL along with The Creepy T's, AKA, The Freakin Hot and The Postmarks among many others. As I understand it they get 40,000 people out to this festival. Should be a good time. Two of our new songs, "In The Rain" and "Catch The Sun", will be making their live debuts tonight, which we're pretty excited about. Our only concern is rain, the weather has been rather crap here the past few days and the forecast doesn't offer much hope for improvement so this might be a messy affair all around. Woo Hoo!

Marqui Adora gets a write up on Licorice Pizza!

Thanks to Eric over at Licorice Pizza for this one.

"I got an email the other day from today’s featured band, Marqui Adora. They mentioned two very cool things that made me decide right away I’d devote a post to them. First, they are a rock band from Miami. I’m not sure if those of you outside Miami-Dade County realize just how rare that is. Miami doesn’t rock; Miami spins turntables and dances to steel drums.

Next, the members of Marqui Adora have gone the same route as Radiohead (they may even have been doing it longer) and are giving away their music via the Internet. While Marqui Adora may not yet be as big as Radiohead, I will definitely salute them for their approach to disbursing their music.

I read an article the other day about bands at CMJ. The gist of the story was how much more important it is now for bands to get a “blogger buzz” going. With government radio in decline, word-of-mouth and the Internet are the only ways people are hearing new music. If a band can produce its own demos or albums and release the music cheaply on the Internet, why would it want to hassle with record deals? Even an artist as successful as Trent Reznor has announced he will no longer deal with a record company, but will “be able to finally have a direct relationship with the audience as I see fit and appropriate.” "

Catch The Sun

Busy day again.

We re-tracked Drums, Bass, Guitar and Vocals for the song previously known as "Making Money Ain't Easy" which is now titled "Catch The Sun". The writing and recording for this song is being done very quickly to capture a bit of urgency and to meet our self imposed deadline of having the song completed by this Monday.

Additionally there's another song that is near the finish line entitled "In The Rain" which blatantly draws inspiration from the movie "That Thing You Do" and The Beach Boys. It's yet again something totally different from us but we're kinda fond of the idea of breaking out of the mold and surprising not only ourselves but you, the listener (or reader in this case). "In The Rain" will get the final Mix Down this weekend and should be available to everyone this Monday.

Seeing a pattern yet?

Finally there's a third song to talk about, a major reworking of "Yours and Mine". It's a song we've had on the shelf for almost two years and it's always been a little flat, which is why it's never been released and only played live once or maybe twice. This past week though John and Danny made a lot of head way on the song taking it into a really cool direction. As it stand right now it's kind like Violator and Songs of Faith & Devotion era Depeche Mode meets the TV show Fire Fly. It's raw but really slick sounding. It's still in the early stages but man has it come along way!

All for now.

Making Money Ain't Easy

Busy day, we wrote and recorded a new song tentatively titled "Making Money Ain't Easy". The title will most likely change after Danny refines the lyrics. It has a big anthemic quality to it, something everyone can sing along to. Tomorrow we attack it again full force. I'm very excited.

Friday Night, Alright!

Kinda slow, yet active week.

Apparently some english band released an important record this week. Something about rainbows.

In MA news...

Howard is off to LA for a wedding, John and Danny have been in and out of the studio working on vocals and I've been shaking babies and kissing hands with the internets, mainly bloggers and podcasters. We did get a cool write up on a german blog called coast is clear which was very nice, still working on the translation though, kinda rough:

"Over the tape Marqui Adora from Florida I wanted already long actually times which in my Blog to become loose, describe her their music nevertheless as follows: "M.A. is A dazzle OF skirt and dance music, with vocals into the styles OF The Cure, U2"

Yeah not the best translation.

Also we'll have a new gig announcement in a few days and potentially another single. Very Exciting!

Tonight I'm off to see D&B producer Digital do a DJ set at the Laundry Bar on South Beach. Back when I was DJing D&B on the regular I would no doubt have two or three Digital tunes in my bag at all times, so I'm pretty excited to see where he's at nowadays.

That's all for now.

Have a great weekend!
